CLASS - SUMMER NYC 2023:
Along with teaching Theater Dance Master Class and leading workshops around the U.S., Stephen is owner and director of the historic Ballet Arts Center For Dance NYC (130 W. 56th between 6 & 7 Ave, NYC) located in the historic New York City Center Theater.
Ballet Arts Studios offers professional level dance and voice instruction with a classical ballet emphasis. Theatre Dance class offers a wonderful opportunity for dancers to break free of classical constraints and focus on character-based performance technique. Open Level Class. Stephen's Theatre Dance series offers a working professional's approach to the rich world of theatre dance and presents an excellent opportunity to prepare for professional Broadway-level auditions. Class repertoire includes the Broadway choreography of Robbins, DeMille, Fosse, Lynne, Stroman, Marshall, Ashford and more, and focuses on the impact these works have had on the American theatre.
Recent classes have included choreography from recent Broadway productions of Nice Work If You Can Get It, American Idiot, Dancin', Spamalot, Billy Elliot, In The Heights, Wicked, All Shook Up, Cry Baby, Hairspray, Mama Mia, The Wedding Singer, Lion King, and Mary Poppins - along with classic American Broadway musicals like Music Man, Pajama Game, Chicago, Damn Yankees,Annie, West Side Story, On The Town, and South Pacific. You might have to sing AND dance in this class, but hey, it's "Musical" Theatre Dance - and it's fun! Beginners will be extremely challenged - but are welcome at all times!
